All donations to Somos Durham are processed through our fiscal sponsor, Asheville Creative Arts, a 501 (c)(3) tax deductible organization. This helps fund our 501 (c)(3) related events, operations, and programming
To do so visit the following donation page and specify, “Somos Durham” in the Comment field before you submit.
ACA will then disburse the tax-exempt funds to us after it’s gone through their process.
Who is Asheville Creative Arts (ACA)
ACA is an Asheville-based arts and arts service organization, providing high quality, professional theatre, performance, and arts experiences to Asheville audiences of all ages, and offering fiscal sponsorship and related services to sibling social enterprises and arts nonprofits serving Asheville and Western North Carolina.
ACA is providing fiscal sponsorship to us as a mission-aligned grassroots group.
Why do we have a fiscal sponsor vs receiving funds ourselves
We as Somos Durham do not have tax-exempt status. A fiscal sponsor is a tax-exempt organization that agrees to receive funds on behalf of another nonprofit or project, one that doesn’t have a tax-exempt status yet.
